I had an opportunity to visit McCormick and Schmick’s sea food restaurant in Town and Country, (Houston) and discovered that they are serving Mako Shark on the lunch menu. Don’t eat sharks. First of all, the shark meat often contains high levels of mercury because they are at the top of the food chain. And it’s just plain bad news to take the apex predator from the ocean. Lastly the Mako is considered “Threatened” by the IUCN as shown here. So take a moment to read about sharks here, and don’t order them if you see it on a menu. Meanwhile we will write to McCormick and Schmicks to see why they are serving it.
